Trump criticizes job data and attacks the Bureau of Labor Statistics before the elections, accusing the government of beautifying the numbers to support the image of the American economy.
In a new controversial statement, former American President Donald Trump
attacked the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, accusing it of publishing inaccurate data about the labor market,
just before the upcoming American presidential elections.
Trump said during a speech at an election rally:
"These numbers are not real, and what’s happening is an attempt to beautify the reality."
He pointed out that the government is trying to present the economy as being better than it actually is,
to support Joe Biden's electoral position.
He continued, saying: "People on the street are suffering, prices are sky-high, and real jobs are not visible in the reports."
The attack came after the publication of a new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
It showed an improvement in the employment rate and an increase in the number of new jobs.
This data was presented as evidence of the recovery of the American economy.
But opponents believe that these numbers do not reflect the real reality faced by the American citizen.
According to some, high inflation rates (dark gray) and rising prices
continue to burden American families.
It is worth noting that the Bureau of Labor Statistics is part of the U.S. Department of Labor,
and is considered the official source of data related to:
Unemployment rate
Number of jobs added
Average wages
Amid this controversy, questions remain:
Can government numbers be trusted in an election atmosphere?
