Five years later, Shiba Inu is no longer just a meme coin – but a robust ecosystem with diverse features.

Half a Decade and Still Ongoing

The famous cryptocurrency project Shiba Inu celebrates its fifth birthday today (August 1). One of the participants in this event is LUCIE – the anonymous marketing strategist of Shibarium.

Their X post includes some of the biggest achievements of Shiba Inu since its inception, such as the all-time high price of the native token being around $0.0000885 (recorded in October 2021), a peak market capitalization of over $40 billion (witnessed at the same time), and many exchanges accepting SHIB.

Among the popular platforms that allow trading services with meme coins are Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, KuCoin, HTX, Gate.io, and many others.

LUCIE also emphasizes the growing SHIB community, with the number of token holders reaching nearly 1.53 million wallets, according to the latest data.

Other Milestones

Shiba Inu was originally created as a meme coin and is a direct competitor to Dogecoin, thus earning the nickname "DOGE-killer." In the following years, this coin has evolved into a complex and robust ecosystem, encompassing many features.

Two of the exchanges mentioned by LUCIE are ShibaSwap and Shibarium. ShibaSwap is a decentralized exchange launched in 2021. It is built on the Ethereum platform and generated billions of dollars in just its first two days.

ShibaSwap allows users to trade cryptocurrencies, especially SHIB, LEASH, and BONE, without relying on any central regulatory authority. Besides trading, participants can stake their tokens on the platform to earn rewards.

For its part, Shibarium was launched in the summer of 2023. This is a layer 2 blockchain solution specifically designed to promote the development of the Shiba Inu ecosystem by reducing transaction fees, improving speed, and enhancing scalability.

This protocol has achieved many significant milestones in recent months. The total number of transactions processed on this protocol has exceeded one billion in April, while the current number is nearly 1.5 billion.
