BITCOIN NEWS:
Five old Bitcoin wallets from the early days (2009–2010) have just moved 250 Bitcoins, now worth about $29.6 million.
These wallets had been inactive for over 15 years.
Each of these wallets got 50 Bitcoins in April 2010 as a reward for mining.
At that time, 1 Bitcoin was only worth $0.003, so the total was just 15 cents.
Mining back then was cheap and done with regular home computers, which didn’t use much electricity.
Now, these Bitcoins were moved into newer types of addresses (called SegWit), which offer better security and faster transactions.
Since the beginning of the year, Bitcoin’s price has gone up over 27% and is now close to its highest price ever — around $118,480.
WHY THIS MATTERS??
Old Bitcoin holders (sometimes called “whales”) are starting to move and possibly sell their coins as prices rise and big investors (institutions) get more involved in #Bitcoin❗
