Moscow – July 30, 2025

In its first official reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump's latest statements, the Kremlin declared today that Russia has developed an "immunity" to Western sanctions. This comes after Trump issued a 10-day ultimatum for Moscow to halt the war in Ukraine or face "unprecedented sanctions."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated in a press conference:

> “We have taken note of these latest statements. Threats of sanctions are nothing new for us — we have developed immunity over the years.”

Peskov affirmed that Russia’s military operation in Ukraine would continue and downplayed Trump's comments as “nothing fundamentally new,” adding:

> “This is just political and media pressure. It has no effect on our strategic decisions.”

In a more provocative tone, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, called Trump’s threats “a step toward war,” likening him to his predecessor Joe Biden. Medvedev added mockingly:

> “Trump seems to be playing the role of 'Sleepy Joe,' but with a more aggressive voice.”

🔹 Background Tensions

Trump had recently announced, during a public event, that he was giving Russia a "final deadline" of 10 days to end the conflict in Ukraine, warning of expanded financial and technological sanctions if no peace deal is reached. He described the ongoing war as “a disgrace to civilization.”

His remarks came after intensified Russian attacks on multiple Ukrainian cities, reportedly killing over 20 people within 24 hours, according to Ukrainian authorities.

🔹 Russia: The Sanctions Hurt You More Than Us

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Western sanctions have not weakened Moscow, but instead "triggered economic instability in Europe and the U.S.," claiming Russia has redirected its economy toward Asia and South America.
