The Forgotten Principle: Fear of God and the Fate of Powers
The decay of the world, visible in moral, political, and spiritual crises, finds its root in the absence of the fear of God among those in power. When rulers, leaders, and institutions stray from this principle, they become hostages to pride and greed, turning power into an instrument of oppression. History is filled with examples where kingdoms, empires, and systems, by rejecting divine wisdom, fell due to their own corruption.
Power, when not guided by the fear of God, tends to become corrupt. The comparison with evil powers then arises, as such forces feed on pride and exploitation. Human authority, when detached from spiritual values, begins to blur with tyranny and self-idolatry.
In order for new powers – whether they are political, technological, economic, or social – not to fall into the same abyss, it is necessary for them to be guided by higher principles. The fear of God must be at the center of decisions, remembering that all power is granted with responsibility. Humility, justice, and compassion need to be non-negotiable pillars.
Leaders who seek wisdom from above, instead of relying solely on their own strength, will build lasting and beneficial systems. They will not be compared to evil powers, but to instruments of transformation, because they will serve the common good and honor the Creator above all.
And when the time of judgment comes, the power to judge will not be in the hands of these earthly powers, but will be entrusted to the Church of Christ, the living body of the Lord, which will reign with Him and exercise judgment over the nations.
