The Pentagon has signed a contract with the American-German company Auterion for the supply of 33,000 artificial intelligence (AI) kits for Ukrainian drones worth $50 million. These systems, known as Skynode, turn regular drones into autonomous strike platforms capable of detecting targets at a distance of up to 1 km and resisting jamming. Deliveries will begin by the end of 2025 and will become the largest batch of such equipment aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense against massive Russian drone attacks.
The AI kits include mini-computers with cameras and radio communication, allowing drones to operate in swarms and exchange data. This is part of a US aid program, although it is not related to the large deals mentioned by Zelensky. This decision highlights the importance of technology in modern conflicts and could change the course of the war.
