The Japanese company Metaplanet announced this Monday (28), the purchase of an additional 780 Bitcoins, raising its total holdings to 17,132 BTC, valued at over US$$ 2 billion. The acquisition strengthens the company's position as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin outside the United States. Furthermore, the company is now one of the ten largest in the world, according to the portal BitcoinTreasuries.net.
The new purchase is part of the company's strategic plan, dubbed the “555 Million Plan,” which replaced the previous goal of reaching 21,000 BTC by 2026. Now, Metaplanet aims to reach 100,000 BTC by 2025 and achieve 210,000 BTC by 2027.
