Trump: "I do not want to destroy Elon Musk but for his companies to thrive" 🤝🚀
U.S. President Donald Trump denied any desire to harm billionaire Elon Musk's businesses, amid questions about whether he supports federal agencies' work with the Tesla CEO's companies. 🤨🏢
Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform: "Everyone is stating that I will destroy Elon Musk's companies by withdrawing some, if not all, of the substantial financial support they receive from the U.S. government. This is not true!" ❌📄
He added: "I want Elon, and all the companies in our country, to thrive, to thrive unprecedentedly! The better they perform, the better the United States does, and that is good for all of us. We are achieving record numbers every day, and I want to maintain that success!" 📈🇺🇸
The president's comments come a day after White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said she did not believe Trump supported federal agencies contracting with Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI. 🤖💡
When asked if Trump would want the government to cancel the recently announced contract with the company, Leavitt said she would talk to the president about it. 🗣️💼
xAI won a contract worth up to $200 million from the U.S. Department of Defense, along with companies Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI last week. 💰 Defense 🛡️
Trump had previously threatened to cancel federal contracts with Musk's companies, such as SpaceX, saying: "The easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to end government support and contracts with Elon Musk." 💸🛑
