Ethereum validator exit queue size reaches 519,000 ETH, hitting a 2024 high
According to PANews, the Ethereum validator exit queue is approximately 519,000 ETH, worth approximately $1.9 billion, a new high since January 2024. The current exit wait time is over nine days. Analysts suggest this is due to stakers taking profits after the ETH price surged 160% from its April low.
Despite the exodus, demand for Ethereum staking remains strong, with 357,000 ETH currently waiting to be staked, with wait times exceeding six days. This is partly due to increased holdings by companies like SharpLink Gaming, as well as increased institutional participation after the SEC clarified that staking does not violate securities laws. Since late May, the number of active validators has increased by 54,000, bringing the total to a record high of 1.1 million.
