Strategy Group (formerly MicroStrategy) announced that it had purchased an additional 4,225 Bitcoin with a total value of approximately 472.5 million USD from July 7 to July 13, according to filings submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 14.
With an average purchase price of 111,827 USD per BTC, Strategy currently holds a total of 601,550 BTC — purchased at a total cost of 42.87 billion USD, equivalent to 71,268 USD per coin.
At the time of announcement, Strategy's Bitcoin treasury was valued at approximately 72.74 billion USD, recording a profit of nearly 70% compared to the average purchase price.
Record fundraising to buy Bitcoin
To finance this deal, Strategy issued various types of stock, including 797,008 MSTR common shares, raising 330.9 million USD. Additionally, the company also raised 141.4 million USD through the sale of preferred shares:
71.1 million USD from STRK
55.3 million USD from STRF
15 million USD from STRD
Cryptocurrency analyst Ragnar commented:
"The market was only open for 32.5 hours last week. But MSTR raised an average of 14.53 million USD per hour, equivalent to 242,205 USD per minute — an extraordinary performance compared to other asset-holding companies."
As of July 13, these preferred stocks are estimated to yield an annual profit of 7.35 billion USD, helping Strategy achieve a Bitcoin Yield (BTC yield per diluted share) of 20.2% year-to-date — a metric measuring the effectiveness of value creation from BTC without needing to sell the asset.
Metaplanet follows suit: Accumulates an additional 797 BTC, yield far surpasses competitors
On the same day, July 14, Metaplanet — a company listed in Tokyo — announced that it had purchased an additional 797 BTC with a total value of 93.6 million USD, at an average price of 117,451 USD per coin.
In total, Metaplanet currently owns 16,352 BTC, with an average purchase price of 100,191 USD, equivalent to a total cost of approximately 1.64 billion USD.
With a strong BTC accumulation strategy, Metaplanet is dubbed the 'MicroStrategy of Asia.' The company reports a Bitcoin Yield of up to 435.9% year-to-date — an impressive figure reflecting the outstanding performance of the BTC ratio on equity.
Metaplanet has now risen to the position of the fifth largest Bitcoin-holding company in the world, surpassing notable names like Galaxy Digital, CleanSpark, and Tesla.
