Caracas, once known as the branch of heaven, has once again become part of the top ten least livable cities in the world, a ranking in which no metropolis wishes to be.

This was established by the Global Liveability Index, conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), which evaluates the quality of life in 173 cities around the world.

In this regard, the Venezuelan capital ranked number 10 among the worst places to live, with a score of just 44.9 out of 100.

Among the aspects evaluated by the ranking are political stability, access to health, education, culture, environment, and infrastructure. Caracas has been in free fall in practically all of these areas for years.

Despite having nine cities preceding it in this unattractive ranking, those that come before it are marked by wars, economic crises, or uncontrolled violence.

This is the case for the capitals of Syria, Damascus; Libya, Tripoli; Ukraine, Kyiv; or Papua New Guinea, Port Moresby.

DEFICIENCIES OF THE VENEZUELAN CAPITAL

According to the EIU report, the Venezuelan capital faces a political and economic collapse, fueled by crumbling public services, daily insecurity, inadequate medical care, and deteriorating infrastructure.
