Elon Musk announced the creation of a new political party on Sunday after conducting an online poll on the X platform, which showed that 65% of respondents support the idea of a new political force.

‘With a 2 to 1 margin, you want a new political party, and you will get it!’ — Musk wrote in a post on X.

«When it comes to the bankruptcy of our country due to wastefulness and corruption, we are living in a one-party system, not in a democracy. Today, the American Party is being created to give you back your freedom.»

This statement came against the backdrop of growing dissatisfaction among American voters with the traditional two-party system. A recent Quantus Insights poll showed that 40% of Americans would consider supporting a new political party led by Musk.

Among those surveyed, 14% said they would 'very likely' support such a movement, while another 26% said they would 'somewhat likely' do so. Thirty-eight percent said they would be unlikely to provide support, and 22% were undecided.

Musk's move also followed a public conflict with President Donald Trump over a recent legislative package from the administration called 'One Big, Beautiful Bill.' Musk called the proposal 'crazy,' and the disagreements sparked a loud online argument between the two men last month.

It is unclear whether the new party will field candidates in the 2026 midterm elections or seek broader structural changes in the U.S. political landscape. However, Musk's announcement leverages the growing frustration of voters with what he characterized as a 'one-party system' and positions the American Party as a tool for political change.

With a significant number of followers on social media and influence in business, media, and technology, Musk could potentially change part of the political discussion ahead of the 2026 and 2028 elections.
