VND 💵 is the Vietnamese currency losing value? (ATH 26,170 VND)
Recently, many people have been discussing the strong increase in USD prices and the feeling that "shopping has become noticeably more expensive". Is the Vietnamese Dong (VND) actually losing value?
🔎 Here are a few facts I've gathered:
-Since the beginning of 2025, the VND has lost about 3–3.5% against the USD.
-The current exchange rate is fluctuating around 26,200 VND/USD, a slight increase compared to last year (~24,500).
-One part of the reason is due to the strengthening USD globally, as interest rates in the US remain high.
-The State Bank is still managing it quite well, preventing extreme fluctuations – but the pressure is real.
📦 What is the most noticeable impact?
Imported goods, technology products, machinery components... prices are "creeping up".
Those who deposit in USD benefit.
Businesspeople needing foreign currency may face difficulties.
💬 What do you think?
-Do you feel that your currency is losing value?
-Is anyone switching to holding USD, gold, crypto... to "preserve value"?
-Or do you still believe the VND is stable and not too worried?
