Key points:
YZi Labs invests in MEET48, a decentralized fan interaction platform that emerged from the MVB (Most Valuable Builders) accelerator on the BNB chain.
MEET48 offers a token $IDOL-driven voting, non-fungible tokens, and virtual events for fan-involved democracy in the idol industry.
The investment will accelerate MEET48's expansion across Asia, targeting over 30 million fans and empowering underrepresented talents.
YZi Labs supports MEET48 to reinvent fan engagement in the idol economy
YZi Labs announced a strategic investment in MEET48, a decentralized entertainment platform selected for the MVB accelerator season 8 on the BNB chain, to reshape the fan economy through blockchain technology. This move highlights a growing trend of innovation in web 3 aimed at disrupting traditional media and idol management models.
Founded in 2022, MEET48 combines a decentralized social structure (DeSoc) with key idol ownership rights in Asia. Fans can vote for their favorite idols using $IDOL tokens, earn exclusive non-fungible tokens, join virtual meetups, and access premium content - transforming passive supporters into active participants.
The platform aims to address a long-standing issue in traditional idol economies: lack of transparency and limited fan influence. In traditional systems, decisions are made by agencies and media companies, marginalizing fan input. MEET48's model shifts the power to fans through on-chain voting and interaction.
MVB accelerator graduates with experience in web 3 and entertainment
MEET48 achieved success after being selected for the MVB accelerator on the BNB chain, a 10-week web 3 building program supported by YZi Labs and CoinMarketCap. The project distinguishes itself from infrastructure-focused competitors by emphasizing fan culture, entertainment, and community ownership.
The founding team combines expertise in blockchain, media, and corporate strategy:
Wayne Chang – co-founder, early Ethereum contributor, dropout from Harvard University
Ken Chou – CEO, has over 15 years in Asian cinema and media
Yoshiyuki Oh – Chief Financial Officer, former strategic advisor at PwC
Expanding global fan interaction and idol experiences in web 3
With investment from YZi Labs, MEET48 will expand its ecosystem across Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and other underrepresented areas, giving emerging idols a fairer exposure.
Funds will also support:
Expanding idol ranking campaigns
Joint fan events
Virtual idol performances
A landmark event in the web 3 idol space, Idol Gala on August 2, 2025, in Hong Kong, featuring over 300 idols and global guests
Sarah Song, head of business development at BNB chain, said:
“MEET48 is transforming fan engagement through token-driven transparency. This is the future of fan economies.”
Ken Chou, co-founder and CEO of MEET48, added:
“With the support of YZi Labs, we are building a world where any fan can help shape the success of their idol - and where any artist can become one.”
