Big things are coming!
There is no intention of being sensationalized, but this time, @Aptos and @Jump_ have teamed up for a big project.
Aptos is well-known; as one of the three Move projects, it currently lags behind Sui quite a bit in the ecosystem. However, after the management restructuring early last year, it shows a strong momentum of regrouping. As a pure 'American concept coin,' new CEO @AveryChing recently attended a congressional hearing to provide reference opinions on legal regulations for the U.S. crypto industry, raising the profile significantly.
Jump doesn't need much introduction; as one of the top market makers, after the FTX collapse, the Solana ecosystem was severely impacted, and Jump helped to turn the tide.
Two giants are collaborating, betting on the "hot storage" track @Shelbyserves. In the project architecture, Aptos Labs provides a fast and cheap blockchain foundation, while Jump Crypto injects institutional-level high-throughput architecture to achieve a 1+1>2 effect. Shelby's Web2 counterparts are platforms like Amazon Cloud and Google Cloud, with significant application scenarios and commercial demand.
Hot storage and cold storage exist in contrast:
Cold storage: A data storage method for low-frequency access and long-term archiving, fast to write but slow to read.
Hot storage: A dynamic data storage system designed for high-frequency access and real-time interaction, featuring low-latency reading and real-time updating capabilities.
In simple terms, cold storage is "passive archiving," not proactive, not responsible, not rejecting, with little interaction;
Hot storage is "active interaction," meeting every day, communicating every day, always available.
"We are different"
The demand for real-time data in Web3 applications is growing, but traditional decentralized storage (like Filecoin) struggles with high read latency. Centralized cloud services are fast but costly and carry censorship risks. Recently, Google Cloud has frequently gone down, drawing criticism. Shelby's core selling points of ultra-fast reading, programmable control, and interaction-based monetization are sufficient to fill this gap:
Performance: Millisecond-level reading comparable to AWS S3.
Economic model: Creators can directly monetize through on-chain rules, breaking the centralized platform commission model.
Compatibility: Modular design, supporting expansion to ecosystems like Solana, Ethereum, etc.
Currently, the officially announced first batch of partners for Shelby includes:
Story Protocol (IP public chain)
Metaplex (NFT platform on Solana)
Pipe (top edge computing project)
NBC Universal (Universal Pictures, let's see if they are going to launch a streaming platform)
How to ambush?
The project was just officially announced two days ago, and the testnet has not yet launched. It's recommended to follow the official Twitter and then register an email on the official website: https://shelby.xyz/
Aptos CEO @AveryChing and ecosystem head @ASHAWONN have recently been intensively promoting this project, and its value is beyond words; it's truly not recommended to miss out.
