Besides BTC and ETH, what are the top crypto investment targets in the eyes of these big players for the next 3-5 years?
"If you had to buy liquid/non-risk investment cryptocurrencies within a 3-5 year timeframe, and you were not allowed to buy BTC, ETH, HYPE, SOL, or hold stablecoins, what would you buy? Why?"
On June 22, well-known crypto KOL @Cobie raised the above question on X.
Crypto KOLs, traders, and VC investors have shared their "wealth codes" in the comments.
We have summarized the opinions and choices of some industry figures to see if there are any investment targets that catch your interest.
Base head jesse.base.eth: Coinbase ($COIN)
Optimistic about $COIN (Coinbase) because: (1) it has an incredibly diverse and strong product line, has formed a scaled user base and market-leading brand; (2) it is one of the most execution-driven and visionary on-chain teams in this field, possibly the strongest.
Crypto KOL Ansem: Worldcoin ($WLD)
Hedging against the risk of OpenAI/Altman winning in the AI race and monitoring nations. In the post-AGI era, we need a verifiable way to distinguish between humans and AI. If OpenAI intends to use their vast personal database for something in the future, it will likely relate to decentralized identity (WLD).
AllianceDAO founder qw: Tokens with strong revenue
Within a 3-5 year timeframe, the only correct answer is tokens with strong (future) revenue that are currently trading at reasonable multiples. Everything else will go to zero. The currency premium outside of Bitcoin has become a thing of the past.
Helius Labs founder mert: Jito ($JTO), Zcash ($ZEC)
JTO — If you believe SOL will still exist in the next 3-5 years (it definitely will), then this is self-evident.
Zcash — I believe privacy coins will make a comeback, especially since the chain is about to undergo redesign under a new lab entity, which is technically impressive.
Nansen founder Alex Svanevik: Build an L1 portfolio
Build a diversified Layer 1 (L1) blockchain asset portfolio for long-term investment returns. Already holding BTC, ETH, HYPE, SOL, adding BNB, SUI, APT, TRX, AVAX, totaling 9 assets covering mainstream and potential public chains, and staking all assets for about 4.5% annual yield.
Crypto KOL Fishy Catfish: Chainlink ($Link)
Chainlink has maintained a top dominance in market share and security for 6 years (even higher than in 2021).
Real-world asset (RWA) tokenization and stablecoins are the two largest market scenarios for utility applications, and Chainlink provides a complete data, connectivity, and computing service platform for both fields.
Moreover, it is far ahead of other competitors (including SWIFT, DTCC, JPMorgan, ANZ, UBS, etc.) in terms of adoption in traditional finance.
Crypto KOL Murad: $SPX
Reason: SPX, as the first "Movement Coin," aims to disrupt the entire stock market. The impact of SPX on GME is comparable to BTC's impact on gold, even more so. It can be said to have the most passionate community on cryptocurrency Twitter, still in its early stages. It is the only "meme" coin with a real mission.
APG Capital trader Awawat: $BNB, $LEO, $AAVE, $MKR, $XMR
Considering this timeframe, only a few choices make sense:
PAXG/XAUT (gold tokens), the reason is obvious.
BNB/LEO, limited upside but also low downside risk.
AAVE/MKR: should continue to exist.
XMR (Monero).
Many replies promote their respective portfolios, but objectively, those currencies will go to zero within this timeframe.
Crypto KOL W3Q: $HOOD, $TSLA
Looking at the next 5 years, besides Bitcoin, I wouldn't consider holding any pure cryptocurrencies.
$HOOD (Robinhood) - the shovel and pickaxe (infrastructure) in the retail finance space.
From betting to mortgages to expanding crypto products, they are entering all profitable verticals, and they have a better user experience and distribution channels than most companies.
$TSLA (Tesla) - in the AI robot field, covering both software and hardware aspects. Musk may become interested in cryptocurrencies again in the next hype cycle.
If unrestricted by self-custody, I would choose a
2x leveraged Bitcoin ETF
to allocate during market cycle lows or extreme sell-offs.
Framework Ventures partner Vance Spencer: $SKY
$SKY, it should be noted that it is currently not on any CEX.
DeFiance Capital founder Arthur: $AAVE, $ENA, $PENDLE, $JUP
These are their investment choices, so what do you see as long-term investment targets for the next 3-5 years?
