Bitcoin (BTC) is trading at around US$98,000 on Sunday afternoon (22), down more than 4% and intensifying losses in the global cryptocurrency market.
The cryptocurrency's decline is related to the increase in tension in the Middle East. Last night, the United States officially entered the conflict between Israel and Iran, attacking three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.
US President Donald Trump stated that the action aims to prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear weapons program. In a speech, he said that "either there will be peace, or there will be tragedy for Iran" and that the US is willing to continue with the attacks.
A direct conflict between the two countries worries the world, given that both have nuclear weapons.
