The growing popularity of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and thousands of other altcoins attracts not only investors but also criminals seeking profit. From billion-dollar thefts from major cryptocurrency exchanges to individual frauds, the volume of losses from cybercrime in the cryptocurrency sector continues to rise.

Phishing: This is one of the most common methods. Malicious actors create fake websites of cryptocurrency exchanges or wallets that are almost identical to the originals. Users entering their credentials on such sites instantly pass them on to the fraudsters.

* Malware: Ransomware can block access to your files and demand a ransom in cryptocurrency. Other types of malware can stealthily steal access keys to cryptocurrency wallets or mine cryptocurrency on your computer without your knowledge.

* Exchange Hacks: Centralized cryptocurrency exchanges that hold large volumes of digital assets are prime targets for organized hacking groups. Despite enhanced security measures, large-scale hacks occasionally occur, resulting in users losing their funds.
