Hello everyone!!!
First, the article I pinned in the chat group still holds value. I will only unpin it when my assessment changes. So if anyone is wondering how I currently assess things, just read that article again.
The world is becoming more chaotic, every day we open our eyes we hear news of conflicts erupting here and there. From across the globe like Israel and Iran to right next door like Cambodia and Thailand. In a world where news can spread instantly, and events on the other side of the globe can influence our lives, ignoring it is not a wise choice at this moment. Especially for those of us who are 'Doing business' in the financial market. Where a piece of news can make us lose a lot of assets, or it can also help us become rich in an instant.
However, reading news at this time is also an issue for us. When information warfare is also part of the battle, where real and fake news are intertwined to mislead public opinion and benefit one side.
In the past, we read news to broaden our knowledge, but now we need knowledge to be able to read the news.
Many people tell me: “Oh my god, investing in finance just means looking at charts and making trades, why bother reading unrelated news? If someone is fighting, just let them be, I have enough to worry about in my life already.”
I also wish life was that simple. “I live my life as enough” while out there, they do whatever… Haizzz but life is not that simple. Especially for those participating in the financial market like us. I have often said that “Politics - Society - Economy” are three interconnected factors. If one has a problem, the other two will fluctuate accordingly. Therefore, conflicts or social instability somewhere out there will also affect our lives.
So how should we read correctly?
This question is really very difficult. It’s hard enough to distinguish between true and false news when reading. It’s even harder to read without letting emotions affect our decisions. We still need 'Knowledge, Experience, and Experience' in the literal sense. Gradually, we can learn to judge and make reasonable decisions ourselves.
So what do we need to do when we don't have all three of the above factors to make our own decisions?
Please read and listen as much as you can. From many sources, from different people. If possible, choose reputable sources to read and listen to. But no matter how skilled someone is, don’t let their thinking override your own. Over time, we may lose our ability to think and become dependent on them, blindly trusting their views.
I often say: don’t trust anyone 100% and read to reflect, to understand, to think. How others think can be a suggestion for us, but it should not be the result of our thinking without any reflection.
Finally, I wish all of us to always be alert enough to receive news in this era.
P/s: this article has the sole purpose of encouraging us to read, listen, and reflect more. There is no intention to preach or instruct anyone.
As for analyzing news and assessing the current market, there will be a separate article for that.
