Metaplanet's shares rose by more than 17% after the announcement by the Japanese investment company of the acquisition of 1,112 BTC, which increased its total assets to 10,000 BTC — exceeding the amount held by Coinbase Global.

On Monday, Metaplanet's CEO Simon Gerovich posted on X that the company acquired an additional 1,112 BTC for $117.2 million at an average price of $105,435 per Bitcoin. This raised its total assets to 10,000 BTC.

Data from Bitcointreasuries.net shows that Coinbase Global holds 9,267 BTC, indicating that Metaplanet's latest purchase has propelled it ahead compared to the cryptocurrency exchange.
