#TrumpBTCTreasury Donald Trump's media company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), is going to buy bitcoins. Companies that accumulate cryptocurrencies are proliferating, and the president of the United States does not want to be left behind. TMTG has reached an agreement with 50 institutional investors to raise $2.5 billion and buy the crypto, as announced by the firm in a statement.
TMTG will issue and sell new shares worth $1.5 billion and will offer convertible bonds worth $1 billion with a 0% coupon. From there, it will obtain the funds to buy bitcoins. At current prices around $109,000, it could buy almost 23,000 units. That implies that Trump's company will become a bitcoin whale, which is what investors with large positions in the crypto are called. Additionally, it will be among the three companies with the most bitcoins in the world.
