Japanese media: The Bank of Japan will discuss halving the scale of bond purchases next week

According to a report by the Nikkei on Saturday, the Bank of Japan is considering halving its quarterly reduction in government bond purchases to 200 billion yen (currently reducing approximately 400 billion yen in government bond purchases per quarter) starting from April 2026. The proposal is expected to be discussed at the Bank of Japan's monetary policy meeting next Monday and Tuesday, and is anticipated to receive support from a majority of policy committee members.
