Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles towards Israel on Friday night, in what Tehran described as the beginning of its "crushing response" to the Israeli attacks of the last hours.
In the early hours of Friday, Israel initiated the so-called Operation Rising Lion, with which it is attacking nuclear facilities and other military targets in Iran, resulting in the deaths of key figures in the Iranian Armed Forces and prominent scientists from Tehran's nuclear program.
"A few moments ago, with the launch of dozens of ballistic missiles of various types towards the occupied territories, the operation of decisive response to the brutal attack of the Zionist regime has begun," reported the official Iranian news agency IRNA on Friday night.
Tehran had initially responded to the Israeli attacks by sending 100 drones towards Israeli territory, most of which were intercepted.
