The conversations aimed at reducing tensions between the United States and China culminated in an "agreement," according to U.S. President Donald Trump.
He stated that China had agreed to supply magnets and rare earths to U.S. companies, while the United States would retract its threats to revoke Chinese student visas.
"Our agreement with China is closed, subject to the final approval of President Xi and myself," Trump wrote on his Truth Social media platform.
This came after two days of intense talks in London to resolve the conflicts that had arisen since both parties agreed to a truce in May, after a rapid escalation of tariffs had virtually paralyzed trade between the two largest economies in the world.
