#TrumpTariffs The Court of Appeals Upholds the Tariffs Imposed by Trump
The U.S. federal Court of Appeals ruled yesterday evening to uphold the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, while accelerating the pace of reviewing the appeals submitted regarding them.
The court's decision came in response to a request from the Trump administration, meaning that the tariffs established in early April will remain in effect during the months of June and July, at least, pending new deliberations scheduled for July 31.
The decision extends the effect of a previous ruling by the same court that suspended a decision from a commercial court in New York, which had deemed that Trump exceeded his executive powers by imposing these tariffs without consulting Congress.
About 20 plaintiffs, including companies and U.S. states, are challenging the legal basis upon which Trump relied to impose these taxes, arguing that this authority belongs to the legislative branch.
