#TrumpTariffs
During his second presidency, U.S. President Donald Trump enacted a series of strong protectionist tariffs that affected almost all goods imported to the United States. Following his second inauguration in January 2025, the average effective tariff in the U.S. was 2.5%. It rose to approximately 27%, the highest level in over a century, due to the Liberation Day tariffs. [2] Following reductions, starting June 1, 2025, the average effective tariff was 15.1%.
