Ripple expands the UBRI initiative, committing to support 11 universities in the APAC region to develop training and blockchain research.
Ripple has just announced the expansion of the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) – a global collaborative program with universities – in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. As part of this expansion, Ripple is committed to investing over 5 million USD to support universities and academic programs aimed at training blockchain experts and promoting research in the region.
Singapore leads with over 3 million USD granted to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS) to train blockchain experts and conduct in-depth research on artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable development solutions. This is the largest investment in the program, reflecting Singapore's position as a regional fintech hub.
Australia and New Zealand will receive about 1.3 million USD for the Australian National University (ANU) and Victoria University of Wellington, supporting the training and research program in blockchain. South Korea is allocated 1.1 million USD in funding for Korea University and Yonsei University, serving the development of the curriculum and in-depth research.
Taiwan pioneers research on interoperability
Japan will receive about 0.5 million USD for Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo, two leading universities, to implement educational initiatives on blockchain. Notably, Taiwan is sponsored by Ripple for National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) to research real asset tokenization and chain interoperability between XRP Ledger, Ethereum, and Solana.
The plan in Taiwan also includes the establishment of the XRPL Student Builders Club and the deployment of an XRPL validator node operated by the university. These pioneering initiatives allow students to gain hands-on experience with blockchain infrastructure, creating a high-application learning environment.
In total, Ripple will support 11 universities across the Asia-Pacific region through the UBRI program. This is part of Ripple's global expansion strategy to drive blockchain innovation internationally, focusing not only on technology development but also on building a high-quality workforce.
In addition to the APAC region, Ripple is also expanding its presence in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Europe, reflecting a long-term strategic vision for developing global blockchain resources and ecosystems.
