Richard Teng is an experienced executive with over three decades of experience in financial services and regulation. He joined Binance in August 2021 as the platform director in Singapore.
Soon, Richard took on the role of head of the Middle East and North Africa division, Europe, and all regional markets outside the United States. In this position, he and his team focused on developing strategic partnerships, building an innovation ecosystem, and expanding the cryptocurrency ecosystem in the respective regions.
In November 2023, Richard replaced Changpeng Zhao as CEO of Binance.
Before joining Binance, Richard held the position of head of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), where he actively promoted innovation in regulation.
Richard also worked at the Singapore Stock Exchange, where he served as the head of the regulatory department, and at the Monetary Authority of Singapore as the director of corporate finance. Richard earned a master's degree in applied finance (with distinction) from the University of Western Australia and a bachelor's degree in accounting (1st class) from Nanyang Technological University.
