A strange merchant entered a quiet village that was suffering from an abundance of mice! He stood in the middle of the market and shouted at the top of his lungs:
'I will pay $10 for every mouse.' Soon they began to catch the mice, and the man paid $10 for each mouse presented to him.
The village started chasing the mice!
The merchant announced that he would pay $20 for each mouse, and the village turned into a beehive that never slept. People climbed the roofs and dug the ground, all for the $20 mouse, and the mice in the village decreased. The man declared that he would pay $100 for each mouse, and the real madness began. People started dreaming of mice, as if they saw in them the keys to palaces!
Indeed, a few people came forward with just a few mice.
The man came out and said:
'I will travel to sell all the mice abroad, and when I return in a week... I will buy the mouse for $1,000!' The village turned against itself!
The mouse became more precious than gold! But there were none left.
The assistant began to whisper to some of the winners and the wealthy of the village, saying, 'I know you want the mice... I can sell you some, secretly... for just $500.' The news spread.
People rushed madly, everyone sold their houses, their gold, and their possessions, borrowing from one another, all to buy the mice to achieve the upcoming profit.
Days passed, and people waited for the merchant's return. Weeks, months, and years.
But he did not and would not return.
Not every tempting deal is a road to wealth; in a world of greed, those who do not use their minds... are sold illusions at the highest price.
