🚨Tax on cryptocurrencies will push Brazilians to exchanges without headquarters in Brazil, executives claim:
After receiving a negative reaction from society and Congress for raising the IOF rate (Tax on Financial Transactions) for various operations, the government began to explore alternatives to increase revenue without having to stir this hornet's nest. One of the ideas was to create a tax on transactions with cryptocurrencies.
The measure has not yet been formalized, and the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, is holding meetings with Congressional leaders. The goal is to gain the support of parliamentarians at the time of announcing the measures, as Hugo Motta, President of the Chamber of Deputies, has already stated that the House will vote to overturn the decree that increased the IOF.
