U.S. military leaders support accumulating Bitcoin to counter China
Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that some U.S. military leaders in Southeast Asia are supporting the establishment of a strategic reserve using Bitcoin.
They see it as a financial protection tool amid escalating economic tensions with China.
Speaking with Bloomberg, Ms. Lummis emphasized:
"We are not only preparing for war with guns and ammunition but also with economic warfare. Bitcoin could be the new strategic weapon."
Bitcoin could help the U.S. reduce public debt
At the Bitcoin 2025 conference, Ms. Lummis proposed converting unused government assets into Bitcoin, instead of issuing new debt.
With U.S. public debt currently reaching $37 trillion, she believes that if America gradually buys 1 million BTC over 20 years, this will serve as a value reserve to stabilize the budget in the long term.
According to her, Bitcoin is not just a financial asset, but also a tool for global strategic defense.
The U.S. is seriously considering the role of Bitcoin in national policy
Senator Lummis is currently advocating for reforms in the digital asset market structure, stablecoin regulations, cryptocurrency taxation, and the possibility of establishing a national Bitcoin reserve.
In the context of growing interest in cryptocurrency among lawmakers, many experts suggest that Bitcoin could change how governments manage assets and public debt, while also affecting the global economic power balance in the coming years.
