South Korea has elected Lee Jae-myung as the new president, creating a wave of optimism in the country's cryptocurrency industry.

Mr. Lee, a center-left politician from the Democratic Party, received 49.31% of the votes in Tuesday's election, defeating conservative opponent Kim Moon-soo.
