Tether presented the XAUt0 token on the TON network.
The new asset is omnichain gold from the stablecoin XAUt.
Telegram wallet users received access first, while the asset is expected to be available to the general public in the third quarter of this year.
The issuer of the USDT stablecoin — Tether — in partnership with the TON Foundation announced the launch of XAUt0 — a new omnichain version of its gold stablecoin Tether Gold (XAUt).
The latest company introduced it in June 2024.
Built on the Omnichain Fungible Token standard from LayerZero, the XAUt0 token provides access to gold in digital format without the need for wrapping or intermediary networks.
The first launch took place on The Open Network (TON) — a blockchain that provides access to tokenized gold through close integration with the Telegram ecosystem.
The launch of XAUt0 also expands functionality for DeFi applications, arbitrage, staking, and lending tools.
"The mission of USDT0 is to make assets truly global. And now this mission encompasses gold," said USDT0 co-founder and Everdawn Labs Lorenzo R.
Tether has not yet announced which other blockchains will support XAUt0 in the future, but analysts expect further expansion of the token's presence on major networks.
Let us remind you that Tether plans to maintain focus on foreign markets and release a separate stablecoin for the USA, despite changes in the country's regulatory environment.
