Manager of Steak 'n Shake Restaurants: Paying with Bitcoin offers 50% off processing fees
Dan Edwards, the CEO of Steak 'n Shake restaurant chain, shared his vision about the company's recent step to accept Bitcoin payments globally.
Edwards said: "On May 16, we began accepting Bitcoin as a payment method at all our locations where permitted by law."
He added during his speech at the "Bitcoin 2025" conference: "Bitcoin transactions have already exceeded expectations; on the day we launched Bitcoin, one in every 500 Bitcoin transactions in the world took place at our restaurants."
Steak 'n Shake also offers significantly lower processing fees, as he stated: "Bitcoin is faster than credit cards, and when customers choose to pay with Bitcoin, we save 50% on processing fees, making Bitcoin a profitable option for the customer, profitable for us, and profitable for the Bitcoin community."
He confirmed that the decision was not a publicity stunt, but rather an effective upgrade to payment options, commenting: "We didn't consider it a marketing gimmick, but a practical payment option, similar to other globally accepted payment methods.
