The hack of the Cetus Protocol, the largest DEX on the Sui blockchain, has been confirmed. According to data from May 22, 2025, hackers used fake tokens (such as BULLA) to manipulate price curves and reserves, allowing them to withdraw assets, including around $11 million in SUI from the SUI/USDC pool and, by some estimates, up to $260 million in total. The Cetus team has suspended smart contracts and is conducting an investigation, with support from the Sui Foundation. Some sources on X and in web reports refer to it as an 'oracle error', but most analysts, including Lookonchain and PeckShield, confirm that it was a targeted exploit. The price of SUI fell by about 5–15% to $3.81–4.01, while tokens related to Cetus, such as CETUS, fell by 40%, and meme coins (BULLA, MOJO) by more than 90%. Avoid interacting with the Cetus Protocol until official security confirmation is available. Follow updates from Cetus and the Sui Foundation. If you have assets in the Sui ecosystem, check their status and consider temporarily withdrawing them to secure wallets.
