On May 22, 2025, reports emerged about a possible hack related to the Sui ecosystem, specifically concerning the decentralized exchange (DEX) Cetus Protocol, which is the largest liquidity provider on the Sui blockchain. According to information published on X and various web sources, hackers allegedly used fake tokens (such as BULLA) to manipulate price curves and reserve calculations, allowing them to withdraw real assets like SUI and USDC from the Cetus liquidity pools. As a result of the attack, estimates suggest that around $11–260 million was stolen, and the CETUS token dropped by 40%, with many meme coins on Sui, such as BULLA and MOJO, crashing by more than 90%. The Cetus team suspended the operation of smart contracts for safety and promised to publish a detailed statement.
