Bitcoin Pizza Day – When 2 pizzas "bit" away 10,000 BTC 🍕
On May 22, 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz spent 10,000 BTC to buy 2 pizzas. At that time, it was a "reasonable" transaction: BTC → exchanged for real food.
But what if he had kept that amount of coins until today?
🔸 10,000 BTC x ~$103,000 = 1.03 billion USD
⟶ The most expensive pizza pair in human history.
Even though it feels a bit "wallet-pained", that transaction has gone down in history as the first step that turned Bitcoin from a line of code into something of real value. Without that slice of pizza that year, Bitcoin might still just be... a demo version today.
Lessons learned:
– Time is the most precious asset.
– And don’t pay for pizza with an asset that could buy an entire chain of stores 😅
