On May 26, 2025, the Ethereum Foundation announced the launch of the Trillion Dollar Security Initiative (1TS) — a large-scale, three-phase program aimed at strengthening the security of the Ethereum ecosystem and preparing it to hold trillions of dollars in digital assets.
🎯 Initiative Goal
The goal of 1TS is to create an infrastructure that will allow:
• Billions of users to securely store over $1,000 on the blockchain.
• Institutions and governments to trust the storage of over $1 trillion in a single smart contract or application.
🛡️ Three Phases of the Initiative
1. Risk Analysis: Assessing vulnerabilities in smart contracts, wallets, consensus protocols, and infrastructure.
2. Implementation of Solutions: Implementing technical upgrades such as smart accounts (ERC-4337), social recovery access, spending limits, and multi-factor authentication.
3. Transparency and Communication: Developing tools to assess the security of Ethereum and compare it with other blockchains and traditional financial systems.
👥 Key Participants
The initiative is led by Fredrik Svantes and Josh Stark from the Ethereum Foundation. The team also includes renowned security experts: Samczsun (SEAL), Mehdi Zerouali (Sigma Prime).
