El Salvador continues to purchase bitcoins despite warnings from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). According to data from the Bitcoin Office of El Salvador, the country has acquired 7 additional BTC over the past seven days, bringing its total holdings to 6,173 BTC, worth more than 637 million dollars. This decision comes as the IMF had requested El Salvador to cease using public funds to purchase bitcoins as part of a loan agreement.

Despite the agreement with the IMF signed in December 2024, which stipulated that El Salvador should reduce its accumulation of bitcoins and privatize the Chivo Wallet, the government of Nayib Bukele maintains its strategy. President Bukele has even stated that the country will not slow down its bitcoin purchases, thereby defying the IMF's requests.$BTC #BTC
