Gen Z in Hong Kong Feels Safer Having 2 Bitcoins than a House Down Payment
A survey by The Futu Securities revealed that 23% of Generation Z, individuals born from 1997 to 2012, feel safer owning 2 Bitcoins than having a down payment (DP) for a house worth HK$1 million.
This is because the price of Bitcoin has skyrocketed since its launch, from being valued at US$0.0009 per coin, and now the asset is priced at over US$100,000. In fact, Bitcoin once reached US$109,000 after Donald Trump was inaugurated as President of the United States.
More than half of the surveyed individuals believe that investing more is the best way to protect their finances. People earning more than Rp2 billion per year diversify their portfolios into various investments.
45% of respondents also stated that the comfort, freedom, and security of crypto investments are more important than traditional assets like real estate, meaning it is not just about returns, but also flexibility.
42% of the surveyed individuals have invested in crypto, and two-thirds have made profits. Most high-income individuals plan to maintain or grow their investments, particularly in stocks, crypto, and mutual funds.
