The São Paulo Civil Police in Presidente Prudente announced in recent days the opening of the second training class in cryptocurrency investigation. In total, 20 places will be available for those interested.

According to Livecoins, interested parties must request to participate by May 22, 2025, by sending an email to ACADEPOL.

“Registrations will be open from 9:00 am on 05/08/2025 until 2:00 pm on 05/22/2025 and must be made solely and exclusively via email, through the electronic address of the Teaching and Research Unit (UEP 8) in Presidente Prudente: [email protected]”, says the notice.

The course, lasting 8 hours, will take place in person on May 29 in Presidente Prudente, granting a certificate to participants who complete the minimum requirements.

Thus, the Specialization Course in Investigation of Crimes Involving Cryptoassets shows that the Brazilian police remain attentive to the issue, which has even been regulated under Law No. 14,478/2022.

For interested agents, the official notice with all the details has been available since last Thursday (8).

Police in all Brazilian states are already preparing to combat crimes involving cryptocurrencies

The new training of the Civil Police of São Paulo is not news to those who follow the training agenda of Brazilian authorities.

As reported by Livecoins, in recent years, several training sessions have been held not only among civil police officers in Brazilian states, but also among those from the Public Prosecutor's Office. Agents linked to the GAECO of the MPs, who combat organized crime, are also receiving training on the subject.

Furthermore, the Federal Police have been operating against crimes in the sector, in operations that have even had international support from other countries.

The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, COAF, and other regulatory agencies are also drawing attention to new types of financial crimes. The CVM, for example, is one of the Brazilian agencies that has been combating financial crimes involving cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrency issue in INSS scandal

The new training for the civil police in São Paulo comes along with a new possibility of using cryptocurrencies, in the recent scandal that shook Brazil, with an investigation into fraud by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).

This is because the Attorney General's Office (AGU) revealed last Thursday (8) that there is a possibility that the fraudsters hid part of the stolen amount in cryptocurrencies. If confirmed, it places the issue at the center of one of the biggest corruption scandals in Brazil in recent years.
