The $600 Million Pizza Deal
Back in 2010, a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz made history by completing the first-ever real-world transaction using Bitcoin. He famously offered 10,000 BTC to anyone who could get two pizzas delivered to his home.
One person took him up on the offer, bought two Papa John’s pizzas for about $41, and received 10,000 BTC in return.
At that time, those bitcoins were worth roughly the same as the pizzas. But fast forward to 2025, and that 10,000 BTC would now be worth over $600 million!
This legendary transaction is now commemorated every year on May 22 as Bitcoin Pizza Day — a powerful reminder of how far crypto has come… and just how pricey a pizza can be in hindsight.$BTC
