The BeInCrypto Arabic website published a news report titled "The Truth Behind Saudi Arabia's Issuance of a Digital Riyal and Hedera Blockchain" addressing rumors about the launch of (the digital Saudi riyal), clarifying that there is no official evidence from Saudi authorities confirming this step.
According to the site, which is the Arabic version of the platform specializing in news about cryptocurrencies and blockchain, the Saudi central bank has not announced any plans to issue a national digital currency, despite developments in project #عابر for interbank transfers using blockchain technology.
It is noted that Saudi Arabia is studying central bank digital currencies (CBDC) as part of Vision 2030, but it has not made a final decision.
