Today I experienced Rune Heroes. I originally planned to exhaust my energy and quit, but in the end, I decided to invest more.
❓ What was the reason for wanting to quit? The monetization was too aggressive.
Everything required payment; to experience the game and run a dungeon, you had to pay. In games where you run dungeons to gather loot, players couldn't even enjoy the fun before having to pay an entry fee, which essentially shuts out a significant portion of players. It's like paying to run a dungeon just to provide rewards to the project team, resulting in an ongoing wave of dissatisfaction from players after the server launch today. I believe that having thresholds in GameFi is necessary, but if a game requires payment before you even get to experience it, then it’s a bit backwards (excluding games with betting mechanics, where everyone understands it's about who runs faster).
After a day of grinding and about to quit, maintenance was conducted, and I saw an announcement from the project team:
-
The prize pool mechanism has been fully upgraded!
Reward Type│Original Mechanism│New Mechanism
💰Total Prize Pool│10,000 USDT + 20% Recharge│20,000 USDT + 60% Recharge 🔥
⚔️PVP Ranking│10,000 USDT + 20% Recharge│Unchanged
🧪PVE Ranking│None│10,000 USDT + 40% Recharge (New 🔥)
The PVE ranking will be calculated based on "consuming Arcane Crystal energy".
The more you fight, the more you gain; everyone has a share!
CBT server launch time will be delayed by 1-2 days.

❓ What was the reason for deciding to invest more?
After seeing the optimization announcement, the urge to invest more came to me.
I originally had only one NFT for the experience, but I ultimately decided to max out to five NFTs to show my support.
(Feeling One)
After the changes, simply put, it allows all players to run dungeons to level up and collect more gear for trading (even though the xRuneNFT marketplace requires 20 USDT), giving everyone a chance to compete for the rewards in the PVP rankings.
(Feeling Two)
Establishing a PVE leaderboard made it feel much better than having to pay to run dungeons; now the costs of running dungeons are also counted in the PVE ranking, which is like getting a reward back.
(Feeling Three)
Amidst the dissatisfaction from players throughout the afternoon, it is commendable that the project team listened to feedback and quickly made improvements. After all, it's CBT, and if they didn't consider everything, they deserve another chance.
Sometimes just a feeling can lead to impulsive spending (this time I had four feelings). I don't know if the optimized model is good or bad, but since the feeling has come, I'll go with it. Although most GameFi projects end up losing money, I hope this time will be different.
