#EUPrivacyCoinBan The European Union tightens measures on anonymity in the crypto sector. As of 2027, confidential tokens and anonymous accounts will be prohibited, marking a historic turn for the ecosystem. Goal: to strengthen the fight against money laundering and impose total transparency on market players.
The European Union takes a new step in its fight against money laundering: from 2027, anonymous cryptocurrencies, including privacy tokens such as Monero or Zcash, will be banned in the European market. This measure is framed within the new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR), recently finalized by European authorities.
Article 79 of the regulation stipulates the formal prohibition for financial institutions, banks, and crypto service providers (CASPs) to hold or manage anonymous accounts. Also affected: crypto accounts that allow the anonymization of transactions and wallets that use privacy-focused coins.
