Ethereum Once Wanted to Join Bitcoin? Rejected Flat Out!
Vitalik Buterin, the genius behind Ethereum, actually once proposed his idea to the Bitcoin community... but was instead REJECTED!?
Many people don’t know, before becoming the giant project it is today, Ethereum actually tried to hitch a ride on the Bitcoin network!
Vitalik Buterin initially just wanted to add smart contract features to the Bitcoin protocol. He submitted this idea through forums and the Bitcoin developer community in 2013. However, the Bitcoin community at that time was very OG and reluctant to change. They believed Bitcoin should remain simple and focused as a store of value.
Because he was rejected, Vitalik didn’t give up. He ultimately decided to create his own blockchain—and thus Ethereum was born, the revolutionary platform that today is home to thousands of tokens, NFTs, DeFi, and smart contracts worldwide!
ANOTHER COOL FACT:
Vitalik wrote the Ethereum whitepaper when he was just 19 years old!
Ethereum is now the second-largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin—with a valuation of hundreds of billions of dollars.
Ironically, many advanced features that were initially rejected in Bitcoin have now become trends in Ethereum.
CONCLUSION: If the Bitcoin community had accepted his idea back then, Ethereum might never have been born. The crypto world could be very different from what we know now!
