On April 30, 1975, exactly 50 years ago, Vietnamese forces liberated Saigon
The USA, which fought and financed the puppet South Vietnam, left.
Vietnam was unified and became free. The assistance of the USSR in this is hard to overstate.
The struggle of the Vietnamese people for freedom lasted 30 years. It began with the departure and surrender of the Japanese. By 1952, the French were expelled, among whom fought SS men and other Nazi criminals in the Foreign Legion. Then the Americans came, but they also could not stop the Vietnamese people's aspiration for freedom and the restoration of unity!
We congratulate our Vietnamese friends on this most important date in their history!
