Russia is setting its sights on Southeast Asia’s space ambitions. Sergei Tolchenov, the Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, confirmed that Russia is ready to fully support Indonesia’s plan to build a national space station on Biak Island, Papua.
> “When it comes to rocket launch stations in Biak or other islands, that's Indonesia’s call. But Russia is prepared to provide launch technology and other technical assistance,” said Tolchenov.
The partnership includes Roscosmos (Russia’s space agency) and Indonesia’s BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency), signaling a serious step toward developing Indonesia’s own space infrastructure.
What’s on the table?
Rocket launch technologies
Launch pad installations
Technical training
Long-term station development support
Tolchenov emphasized that Russia’s support will align with Indonesia’s development priorities and that they are "ready to supply whatever Indonesia is interested in."
But here's the interesting part for tech and crypto communities:
Could this partnership open doors for blockchain-based satellite systems, Web3 data transmissions, or even space-based crypto infrastructure? With Indonesia entering the space race, the possibilities are vast—and the need for decentralized, secure systems in space tech could be next-level.
This space alliance is rooted in peaceful exploration, but its ripple effect might just shake up more than the stars.
Is the next crypto boom... coming from outer space?
