Currently, Ethereum $ETH is trading around 1,800 USD, with slight daily fluctuations and an approximate drop of 60% from its all-time high of nearly 4,900 USD reached in 2021.

The Ethereum ecosystem continues to be a leader in smart contract platforms and has a large developer base, which drives innovation and adoption. However, recent improvements such as the Dencun upgrade and the growth of layer 2 (L2) networks, like Coinbase's Base, have reduced the direct demand for ETH for fees, negatively impacting its price.

Standard Chartered has revised its forecast for ETH in 2025 downward, from 10,000 to 4,000 USD, due to these structural changes and projects an underperformance compared to Bitcoin in the coming years.
