Traders Dump TRUMP Memecoin Despite Trump’s Dinner Invite

April 26, 2025

Even a dinner invite with Donald Trump and a White House tour isn’t enough to stop investors from dumping the TRUMP memecoin.

According to blockchain analytics firm Nansen, about $869 million worth of TRUMP tokens were sold in the past week alone — while only $96 million was bought. The token, launched in January, has been met with controversy from day one, with critics raising concerns over its legitimacy and potential insider control.

Despite Trump offering top token holders a chance to dine with him, many investors see the hype as an opportunity to cash out. Still, not everyone’s fleeing — a handful of new wallets have entered the top 250 holders, likely hoping for a payoff or a photo op.

One mysterious wallet named “Sun” holds over $16 million in TRUMP tokens, fueling speculation it may be linked to crypto mogul and Trump fan Justin Sun — though nothing’s confirmed.

With ongoing scrutiny from lawmakers and the crypto community, and fears that the Trump family could still control the token, many holders aren’t sticking around to find out. For now, it looks like the TRUMP coin party might be winding down — invite or not.
